Shameet & Monal | Destination Wedding in India

23rd June 2017

A word of warning: This is a very long blogpost, so get yourself a beverage, put your feet up and enjoy browsing through the organised chaos that is the wedding of Sam and Monal in sunny India.

The last week of December team Obsqura crossed the ocean to shoot Shameet and Monal’s big fat Indian wedding. What makes this wedding that more special is the relationship we have with these two, their friends and family. In fact they have become family and it was an honour when they asked us to capture their big days.

Shooting weddings in India can be a challenge. The draining heat is a major hurdle most of the year and weddings go on for nearly a week. Luckily the weather was more accommodating for timid Londoners like us which was great. Shameet and Monal decided upon an evening wedding which was a good call. Not only did it allow for those gorgeous Indian sunsets but and practically changed the whole dynamic of the wedding altering colours from dusk to nightfall. The venue of choice was the Umang Party Plot in a little town in Anand, an absolute behemoth of a venue so large we couldn’t see where it ended. Weddings in india are big, in fact there were over 2000 people present and amidst the organised chaos was an army of musicians, helpers, priests and ground staff. Monal and her family did a fantastic job turning this venue into one of the most amazing we have ever seen. We cannot describe into words how amazing this wedding was so we think its best to tell the story the best way we know how….
